Last month, I wrote an article about how congregations can grow. There are three basic ‘keys’ to church growth and success. The three keys are:
1. Know the Mission
2. Do the Vision
3. Treat People Well
We said that to Know the Mission is to:
· worship God and
· help people grow in their relationship to God.
How do we DO THE VISION? In this second step, one tries to work on those things that move us closer to the mission.
First, worship God. Worship planning, implementation, practice, preparation are key to any week at Tabor. Tabor offers a traditional service every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., Rejoice and Believe Services, a more interactive and informal worship service, are offered on the first and third Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
Second, getting people to grow in their relationship to God takes some time. On April 13th, we will start a new Sunday School Series for children. The children will meet at 9:15 a.m. with leadership provided by Greg Keller, Renee Haag, Jennifer Hedden and our Sunday School department for a time of singing, Bible lesson, snack and craft.
Their schedule is as follows:
· April 13th
· April 27th
· May 11th
· May 25th
The children will present their singing program on Red Rose Sunday, June 1st, at 10:30 a.m.
Also on April 13th, we will meet with a group of parents/adults/people in their 20’s/30’s/40’s called GENERATION T: TABOR at Dunkin’ Donuts on 422 for a discussion about how we think about and experience Jesus entitled: “The Gospel in a Coffee Mug.”
Generation T: Tabor’s Schedule is:
· April 13th
· April 27th
· May 11th
· May 25th
Finally, we are also in the midst of our Invite Two Campaign, where everyone at Tabor is encouraged to invite two people who have never participated in their church activities before. As far as I’m aware, two groups have already begun this process with great success!
I feel blessed to be working with so many creative people and I hope that you will check out how Tabor has decided to DO THE VISION.
Next month: Treat People Well.
Peace,
Pastor Joseph
